High Lawn Primary school is dedicated to raising standards of PE across the school. All pupils are involved in an enriched physical exercise programme during curriculum time, which includes a variety of activities designed to challenge and inspire the children. As well as these curriculum activities, High Lawn provides a wide range of enrichment clubs after school, again covering a wide range of sports. These include football, netball, cross-country, gymnastics and KS1 multi-sports. These clubs are delivered by school staff as well as external providers such as Bolton Wanderers Football in the Community and Strikerz.
In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
